SDAIA Highlights Saudi Arabia’s Role Nurturing Young Talents through AI Olympiad

Geneva: During the AI for Good Global Summit held in Geneva from July 8 to 11, the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) is shining a spotlight on the inaugural International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAIO) hosted in Riyadh.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the IAIO was organized by the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) in collaboration with SDAIA. The event drew competitors from 25 countries and was awarded a certificate of excellence at the WSIS (World Summit Information Society) Prizes 2025.

This achievement represents a significant milestone that reflects the Kingdom's pioneering position in this field globally, SDAIA General Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Indices Rehab Alarfaj stated during her participation at a session during the summit. It also embodies Saudi Arabia's commitment to developing young talents and honing their technical skills by providing an innovative competitive platform that brings together creative minds from around the world.

Alarfaj emphasized that the IAIO helped solidify Saudi Arabia's position as an international hub for fostering qualitative AI initiatives, enabling participants to showcase their innovative capabilities in a supportive and stimulating environment. Such endeavors align with the Saudi Vision 2030, aimed at building a knowledge-based society and a sustainable digital economy, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, by enhancing awareness and promoting a culture of AI on an international scale.

The session focused on enhancing sustainable digital innovation and highlighted Saudi Arabia's approach to a sustainable digital future. It witnessed extensive participation from representatives of various government entities, private-sector leaders, and digital innovators from the Kingdom.

The session showcased national efforts to enhance digital innovation and build national capacities, as well as initiatives and investments supporting environmental sustainability and comprehensive development, underscoring the importance of public-private partnerships in fostering responsible innovation.
