Cairo University progresses in classification

The Cairo University Council, chaired by Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khesht, reviewed the university’s excellence in seven scientific disciplines at once, within the British Times Ranking for the disciplines of 2020.

Dr. Mohamed El-Khesht explained that the University of Cairo appeared in the British Thames classification in 2017 in only one of the 11 disciplines, and in 2018 and 2019 the university appeared in 7 categories are health and clinical and preclinical research (medical and pharmacy sciences), computer science, science Life, Physics, Engineering and Technology, Business and Economics, and Social Sciences.

He added that the university has progressed by 150 ranks in the British Thames classification for 2020 compared to 2018, where the university came in the field of health and clinical research and preclinical (medical sciences, pharmacy and health), in the category of 126 – 150 and in the specialty of computer science came in the best 251 – 300 universities worldwide, pointing out that Cairo University is the only Egyptian university that appeared in the classification in the specialty of trade and economics, and retained its position in other disciplines.

Dr. Al-Khasht asserted that Cairo University is moving fast and hard towards becoming a smart university from the third generation universities, which contributes to the graduation of an international student with international specifications, and enhance the competitiveness of its graduates at the national and international levels, which is one of the main pillars in the development of the university and improve its international reputation. And its progress in global rankings.

Over the past two years, Cairo University has been able to retain the lead over Egyptian universities, advancing to major international universities in 9 rankings, for the first time in its history in the top 301 to 400 universities globally in the Shanghai ” 2019 ranking, and has made significant progress in the QS rating ( The British University for Specializations in 2019 increased by more than 110%, and ranked 341 globally, in the Dutch classification “Leiden” and topped the first rank at the level of Egyptian universities in the Spanish classification of universities and Webometrics July 2019, and jumped 176 centers at once in six Months . The university also retained the top of Egyptian universities in the CWUR 2018 ranking and ranked 452, and advanced 14 places in the Spanish Scimago University Rankings for 2019, ranking first in Egypt.
