Riyadh: Saudi Weightlifting Federation President and Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) Secretary-General Mohammed Alharbi met here yesterday with International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Secretary-General Jos© Qui±ones. The meeting focused on strengthening efforts to develop weightlifting across Asia, discussing supportive initiatives for member countries aimed at promoting the sport's growth and expansion. It also addressed ways to enhance governance principles through a clear strategic framework to ensure the sustainability of technical and institutional support for eligible nations.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Qui±ones affirmed the IWF's commitment to building strong ties with continental and national federations. He praised Saudi Arabia's achievements in weightlifting and highlighted its role as a leading example in talent development and the organization of international championships, making it one of the world's most prominent countries in the sport.
He also commended the Kingdom's efforts to broaden grassroots participation and enhance infrastructure, noting that Saudi Arabia's active support and engagement in global competitions significantly contribute to the international advancement of weightlifting.
