Makkah: President of the Saudi Water Authority Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdulkarim held a joint coordination meeting today with leaders from the water sector and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, led by Deputy Minister Dr. Abdulfattah Mashat. The meeting focused on reviewing sector readiness and aligning operational plans to ensure the highest standards of service for pilgrims during the 1446 AH Hajj season.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in a separate meeting with regional water sector leaders in Makkah, Eng. Al-Abdulkarim reviewed the latest developments in operational plans and assessed the status of infrastructure prepared for Hajj. He also conducted a comprehensive field tour of Makkah and the holy sites to evaluate the readiness of water services across the production, transportation, storage, distribution, and irrigation sectors.
The tour included an evaluation of development projects underway at the holy sites, including strategic storage facilities, pumping stations, water distribution networks, and treatment plants. Eng. Al-Abdulkarim reviewed emergency and supplemental supply plans, in addition to the performance of the Mina monitoring and control center and the overall technical preparedness for peak Hajj operations.
Accompanied by leaders from various sectors of the water system, he reviewed the detailed operational plan, emphasizing proactive preparedness and reliable supply. He also visited key projects implemented by the National Water Company, inspecting progress on network expansions, reservoir rehabilitation, and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. This included the activation of trial operations in Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafat.
At the end of his visit, Eng. Al-Abdulkarim expressed his appreciation to the National Water Company for its efforts in strengthening operational capabilities in Makkah and the holy sites. He commended the company for completing all 13 critical projects ahead of schedule and delivering them in record time.
