Riyadh: Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abuthnain engaged in a series of high-level meetings during the Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC) 2025, held from January 28 to 30, 2025, at the King Abdulaziz Conference Center in Riyadh.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Abuthnain conducted discussions with several labor ministers, including Palestinian Minister of Labor Dr. Enas Al-Attari, Djibouti's Minister of Labor Omar Abdi Said, Philippine Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, Bangladeshi Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul, and Angola's Minister of Public Administration, Labor, and Social Security Teresa Rodrigues. The meetings centered on labor market cooperation and strategies to advance shared interests.
In addition, Dr. Abuthnain held discussions with the General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Luc Triangle, focusing on labor rights and the Kingdom's worker protection initiatives. The ITUC is a significant international trade union federation representing 240 million workers across 163 countries.
Dr. Abuthnain also met with the President of the World Employment Confederation, Bettina Schaller, to deliberate on employment policy development, current labor market challenges, and future opportunities. The discussions highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise and best practices to bolster local and regional labor markets, particularly amidst global economic shifts.
These meetings underscore the ministry's dedication to fostering bilateral relations, enhancing international cooperation, and exchanging knowledge to address labor market challenges.
