Riyadh: The Saudi Statistics Forum, organized by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), kicked off on Sunday in Riyadh under the patronage of Minister of Economy and Planning and Chairman of the GASTAT Board of Directors Faisal Alibrahim.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the forum runs from April 27 to 28, 2025, bringing together several princes, ministers, heads and representatives of international organizations and statistical offices, local and international experts, decision-makers in the statistical sector, and over 300 individuals interested in statistical work.

In his remarks, Alibrahim emphasized that the forum is inspired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and his directives to develop the Kingdom's data ecosystem, elevating it into a model for measuring performance and assessing the impact of legislation through statistical data and indicators.

He affirmed that the Kingdom has made significant strides in enhancing the quality and accuracy of indicators, including economic, social, and environmental statistics, and that its statistics and data have become a reliable reference for decision-makers.

Alibrahim added that the next phase will focus on developing data platforms, enhancing digital transformation, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technologies for statistical processes and analysis, increasing efficiency, improving indicator accuracy, facilitating information access, accelerating development, and maximizing positive local and global impact in statistical work.

The Saudi Statistics Forum, the first of its kind, aims to discuss important statistical topics, demonstrate the positive impact of the statistics sector in supporting the Kingdom's progress and sustainable development, measure progress toward Saudi Vision 2030 indicators, and solidify the importance of data and statistics in public awareness.
