Saudi Special Olympics Sailing Team Wins Gold at Regional Competition in Dubai

Athletes of the Saudi Special Olympics Sailing Team, Ahmad Hakim and Abdulaziz Al-Qassab, won the gold medal in the unified race during the Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa Regional Sailing Competition in Dubai 2024. The event, which concluded yesterday, took place from October 2 to 6, 2024, with the participation of 22 athletes representing six countries: the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Syria, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.

Director of Public Relations and Media for the Saudi Special Olympics Talal Al-Humaidam expressed his pride in the team’s achievement in the competition, appreciating the significant support for sports for persons with disabilities from the leadership. He stressed that this support has greatly enhanced sports opportunities and led to more achievements for the Kingdom, while also contributing to the empowerment of persons with disabilities. He praised the athletes and coach for their efforts in achieving this accomplishment.

Al-Humaidan said, “This achievement reflects the efforts mad
e to support and develop sports for persons with disabilities in the Kingdom, enabling athletes to reach podiums in various regional and international events.” He also highlighted the pivotal role played by the Saudi Sailing Federation in preparing the athletes for the competition, underlining the strong cooperation and coordination between the federation and stakeholders to support sports for persons with disabilities.
