Riyadh:The Roads General Authority emphasized the significance of coordinated efforts among various entities to improve adherence to the Saudi Road Code. These efforts aim to standardize technical practices and enhance the quality of road construction and maintenance projects, contributing to better quality of life and increased safety and efficiency across Saudi Arabia's road network.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority believes that compliance with the Saudi Road Code can be strengthened by integrating its requirements into contracts, raising awareness, providing training, sharing the requirements with contractors and implementers, continuously monitoring compliance levels, and addressing any observations.
The code is described as a unified technical reference that supports the development of the roads sector by promoting best practices in planning, design, construction, and maintenance. This approach is intended to improve the sustainability of infrastructure assets and increase project spending efficiency.
The authority highlighted that adherence to the code by all relevant parties is crucial for enhancing road-user safety, boosting the reliability of the road network, and improving the quality of services provided to users. Cooperation among government entities, the private sector, and road-sector specialists is deemed essential for developing a more integrated and efficient transport system.
