Saudi Presence Highlighted as Olympic Flame Ignited for Milano Cortina Winter Games

Riyadh: The flame for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games was lit in Olympia, Greece, with the presence of Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, and President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ceremony also witnessed the signing of the Olympic Truce declaration between the International Olympic Committee and the United Nations, underscoring the noble values of the Olympic Movement and the role of sport in fostering peace and mutual understanding among nations.

Saudi Arabia's attendance at the event coincides with the Kingdom's preparations for its second participation in the Winter Olympic Games, following its debut at Beijing 2022.
