Kuala lumpur: The Saudi nuclear science team participated in the second round of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2025), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 30 to August 6, bringing together 56 students from 14 countries.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi team, now awaiting the results, competed in two assessments: a five-hour theoretical exam and a five-hour practical exam. These assessments involved either a laboratory experiment or a simulated task in the nuclear science field, designed to evaluate students' analytical and creative abilities.
Saudi Arabia is represented in this edition by four students who underwent intensive training and qualification programs organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba). This was done in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy.
This participation builds on the Kingdom's debut in the inaugural edition of the Olympiad, where the Saudi team won four awards-one silver medal and three bronze medals. This highlights Saudi Arabia's growing capabilities in advanced sciences and reflects the strength of its integrated national system for nurturing talent and fostering innovation.
