Riyadh: The Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF), the scheme owner of SAAF®, a certification trademark of Arab Green Building, has announced its membership as an association member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). This membership signifies SGBF's dedication to upholding international standards in conformity assessments and fostering sustainability practices within the local and regional built environment.
According to Saudi Press Agency, IAF association members are organizations or associations that represent interests within an economy, region, or internationally. These entities engage in or rely on conformity assessment results from bodies accredited by IAF's accreditation body members, thereby supporting IAF's purpose.
Faisal Alfadl, SGBF's secretary-general, commented on this development, stating, "The mutual recognition with the International Accreditation Forum reinforces the international community's confidence, the sustainability assessment certification framework, supporting Saudi non-governmental organizations in their environmental leadership and integration with global assessment systems based on transparency and credibility."
As an association member, the Saudi Green Building Forum is committed to adhering to the IAF's policies concerning conformity assessment by accredited bodies, the use of accreditation body member symbols, and the issuance of accredited conformity assessment certificates. The SGBF also complies with standard documents approved by the parties and relevant application documents, which serve as the foundation for conformity assessment activities submitted by assessment bodies.
This membership allows the SGBF to participate in IAF-organized meetings and activities, including technical committees. It also grants access to non-confidential information about IAF members and permits the official announcement of its membership.
