Saudi Geological Survey Releases Major Data Packages to Boost Mining Investment

General

Riyadh: The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) launched new geological data packages yesterday, reaffirming its vital role in enhancing the added value of the mining sector and earth science information in the Kingdom. By providing reliable, high-quality data, the SGS aims to boost the sector's attractiveness to both local and foreign investors, supporting Vision 2030 goals for economic growth and diversification.

According to Saudi Press Agency, SGS CEO Engineer Abdullah Al-Shamrani announced that the new data is available through the National Geological Database portal, including over 20,000 linear meters of hyperspectral scanning data from core samples at the national drilling library. This detailed spectral data covers 12 mineral exploration projects in the Arabian Shield.

He explained that the addition of new geological data packages, derived from surface geochemical surveys across 21 geological blocks (10 from the fourth phase and 11 from the fifth), includes a total of 2,394 contour and element classification maps showing the distribution of 57 chemical elements, all available through the National Geological Database portal.

Al-Shamrani noted that the current offering includes a comprehensive update to the overall detailed descriptive data for mineralization sites, as well as basic data for exploratory wells, drilling, and trenches across the Arabian Shield region.

The high-quality data is now available to investors, researchers, and students.
