Saudi Geological Survey Detects 4.34-Magnitude Earthquake Northeast of Khafji

Khafji: Spokesperson of the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) Tariq Abalkhail announced that a 4.34-magnitude earthquake was detected in the Arabian Gulf, about 160 kilometers northeast of Khafji, at 12:27 am on Sunday.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Abalkhail said the earthquake occurred in the Arabian Gulf, geographically distant from Saudi territory. He added that the SGS continuously monitors all seismic activity within the Kingdom and its surroundings through a network of scientifically distributed monitoring stations. He stressed that the situation in Saudi Arabia remains normal and safe, with no indicators or expectations of any seismic activity.

He further noted that the tremors recorded recently are very weak on the Richter scale and pose no risk to any areas within the Kingdom.
