Riyadh: Riyadh Art, in partnership with the French Institute in Saudi Arabia (IFAS), has announced the launch of the 'La Fabrique' creative initiative in the Riyadh Art Hub located in the JAX District. The initiative will commence on Thursday and will continue until February 14.
According to Saudi Press Agency, La Fabrique is organized under the theme 'Au-del de l'©ph©m¨re,' which translates to 'Beyond the Ephemeral.' It aims to serve as a platform for creative expression and cultural exchange, allowing artists to develop and share their ideas through various contemporary artistic practices.
The initiative encourages visitor engagement with the creative process as it unfolds, offering insights into the development and evolution of artworks. The program encompasses multiple disciplines, including performance art, digital and interactive arts, photography, music, cinema, culinary arts, and other participatory practices.
By uniting these fields in a common space, La Fabrique emphasizes the creative process as a vital component of contemporary art, focusing on interaction, dialogue, and the relationship among the artist, the material, and the spatial context.
Executive Vice President of the Lifestyle Sector at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Eng. Khalid Al-Hazani, stated that the project showcases Riyadh Art's commitment to supporting contemporary artistic practices and enhancing public access through creative development pathways.
Al-Hazani highlighted that La Fabrique provides a collaborative platform, strengthens the global cultural ecosystem in Riyadh, empowers the city's burgeoning creative scene, and reinforces the capital's status as a prominent arts and culture destination.
Patrick Maisonnave, Ambassador of France to Saudi Arabia, remarked that La Fabrique represents a new cultural phase in Saudi-French relations. By bringing together artists from both countries, the initiative fosters exchange of ideas and expertise, leading to new artistic expressions that enhance mutual understanding and cultural dialogue.
Maisonnave emphasized that La Fabrique embodies a shared belief in the power of art to unify societies and serves as an essential element in constructing a common future.
La Fabrique is part of a broader cultural partnership between Saudi Arabia and France, placing culture at the forefront of bilateral cooperation and supporting creative exchange and collaboration between the two nations.
The project was developed in collaboration with Riyadh Art, a flagship program managed by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, and in coordination with cultural entities, contributing to Riyadh's transformation into a global cultural hub in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
