Saudi Embassy in Egypt Celebrates International Day of the Arabian Leopard

Cairo: The Saudi Embassy in Cairo celebrated the International Day of the Arabian Leopard with Egyptian Minister of Environment Dr. Yasmine Fouad and Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Saleh Al-Husseini in attendance.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Husseini highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to environmental balance and protecting endangered species, citing the Arabian leopard day initiative and its various programs aligned with international standards. He emphasized that this commitment stems from Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental sustainability. He also underscored the responsibility to protect wildlife, noting that the Arabian leopard is not only an endangered species but also a symbol of the shared natural heritage of the Arabian Peninsula.

Furthermore, Fouad praised Saudi Arabia's environmental initiatives, recognizing the Kingdom as the first to draw attention to the Arabian leopard's plight. She called on the international community to collaborate in preserving the planet's natural resources for future generations.

Additionally, a documentary film showcased the Arabian leopard's history, characteristics, habitat, and Saudi Arabia's conservation efforts, including the establishment of an Arabian Leopard center in the Sharaan Nature Reserve, the launch of a global fund for the Arabian Leopard in 2019, and the widely recognized Catwalk initiative in 2021.
