Riyadh: A Saudi delegation, led by Chairman of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Chairman of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) Abdullah Saleh Kamel, along with Federation Secretary General Sultan Al-Mussallam, participated in the 40th meeting of the Islamic Chamber's Board of Directors and the 72nd meeting of its Finance Committee, held in Ankara. The meetings were attended by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and representatives of federations and chambers from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meetings, Kamel emphasized the necessity for stronger cooperation among Islamic countries in light of the rapid economic changes occurring today. He stressed the importance of empowering the private sector to play a significant role in supporting economic development. Kamel also highlighted Saudi Arabia's prominent role in fostering economic cooperation among Islamic nations and reaffirmed the Islamic Chamber's dedication to enhancing intra-OIC trade and investment to foster economic integration and create opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs.
The meetings included a review of several ICCD initiatives and programs, such as the OIC Arbitration Center (OIC-AC), the Saleh Kamel Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (SKSEED) initiative, and the Islamic Chamber Training Academy (ICTA). Participants also examined the experience of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) in supporting the private sector and bolstering the business environment.
The program featured the 72nd meeting of the Finance Committee, a roundtable on advancing sustainable agriculture, innovation, food security, and growth, as well as panel discussions focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. These discussions also addressed empowering male and female entrepreneurs and strengthening the capacities of chambers of commerce to achieve sustainable economic development.
