Riyadh:The Saudi Competitiveness and Business Center is actively enhancing the legislative and regulatory environment for the business sector. It achieves this by allowing public, government, and private sectors to provide feedback on draft laws and regulations concerning economic and development affairs before they are finalized.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the center's 'Istitlaa' platform is crucial in fostering transparency and participation in legislative drafting. This initiative aims to create a more efficient and stable business environment, thus boosting the Kingdom's competitiveness.
In the first half of 2026, the platform facilitated public consultation on 209 projects related to economic and development matters, introduced by 54 government entities, gathering 8,475 comments from various stakeholders.
The platform registered approximately 1.6 million visits during this period. Since its inception in 2020, it has presented 2,279 projects for public consultation, accumulated 81,000 comments, and recorded over 17.6 million visits.
In the first half of 2026, government entities reviewed over 500 comments on projects submitted through the platform, leading to amendments in their proposals. These amendments involved canceling or revising certain regulatory conditions and requirements and reducing some fines and financial charges. This process has contributed to improving legislation quality and ensuring its relevance to the targeted sectors' needs.
