Riyadh: The Transport General Authority (TGA) announced today that public bus transport projects within the Kingdom's cities carried more than 21.4 million passengers during the second quarter of 2025, reflecting the growing reliance on public transportation and high utilization rates across various Saudi cities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the statistical bulletin issued by the authority shows Riyadh leading all cities with more than 15.6 million passengers. Makkah followed with approximately 3.3 million passengers, while Jeddah had 995,000. Passenger numbers in Dammam and Qatif combined reached about 753,000, with Madinah recording 223,000.
Other cities also witnessed increased demand, with Qassim reporting 199,000 passengers, Taif 165,000, Jazan approximately 101,000, and Tabuk around 9,000.
These robust indicators underscore the authority's ongoing efforts to expand public transport services within cities and to offer effective, sustainable mobility solutions. The initiative supports enhanced urban movement efficiency and aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
