Jeddah: The Philippines booked their place in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Asia Cup, hosted in Jeddah, after defeating Saudi Arabia 95-88 in overtime.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the game began evenly before the Philippines pulled ahead, finishing the first quarter 25-15. In the second quarter, Saudi Arabia mounted a strong response, scoring 14 consecutive points to lead 29-26. Play remained tight until the half, which ended 40-37 in favor of the Philippines.

The third quarter saw both teams maintain focus and balance. Despite the Filipinos' experience, Saudi players-led by Mohammad Abdulrahman and Mohammad Al-Suwilem-kept pace, with the Philippines holding a narrow 60-59 lead heading into the final quarter. The fourth quarter ended 79-79, forcing overtime.

In the extra period, the Philippines started strong and sealed a 95-88 victory, earning applause from the large Saudi crowd for the home team's spirited performance.

With the win, the Philippines advanced to face Australia in the quarterfinals. Earlier in the day, Chinese Taipei defeated Jordan 78-64 to set up a quarterfinal clash with Iran.
