Saudi Artisan Lahdah Al-Enezi Demonstrates Al-Sadu Weaving at Falcons Exhibition

Accra:The International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition features the work of Saudi artisan Lahdah Al-Enezi, also known as "Umm Al-Sadu," who is showcasing over sixty years of expertise in the traditional craft of Al-Sadu weaving. Visitors have the opportunity to observe live demonstrations and gain insights into this significant aspect of the Kingdom's cultural heritage.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Enezi began learning the Al-Sadu weaving techniques at the age of 13. This craft holds deep historical significance, reflecting the Bedouin lifestyle through the spinning, dyeing, and hand-weaving of wool on traditional looms. The resulting textiles are known for their intricate geometric patterns and are used in desert dwellings, home furnishings, and camel and horse gear.

The exhibition includes a variety of Al-Enezi's works, from traditional tent tapestries and saddlebags to modern decorative textiles, wall hangings, and accessories. Committed to preserving this craft, she has trained 46 women in authentic weaving methods, ensuring that these skills continue to be passed down through generations.

Al-Enezi's live weaving sessions are part of the cultural pavilion at the exhibition, which focuses on showcasing authentic Saudi handicrafts while celebrating the artisans dedicated to preserving the nation's rich heritage.
