London: Saudi Arabia, represented by its Transport General Authority (TGA), participated in the extraordinary session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council in London. The delegation, led by Saudi Permanent Representative to the IMO, Eng. Kamal Al-Junaidi, underscored the Kingdom's commitment to maritime security from a strategic regional and global perspective. According to Saudi Press Agency, Eng. Al-Junaidi emphasized Saudi Arabia's dedication to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). He highlighted the Kingdom's proactive measures in navigational warnings, search and rescue operations, vessel routing, and the avoidance of maritime hazards. Al-Junaidi reiterated the Kingdom's focus on protecting maritime routes, ensuring freedom of navigation, and maintaining the stability of energy markets and global supply chains. He further assured that Saudi Arabia will continue to be a responsible partner committed to maritime safety, the protection of lives, and the s upport of a rules-based international system. The Kingdom aims to strengthen international cooperation by enhancing maritime navigation security through improved monitoring, information exchange, and increased readiness to respond to threats.
