New York:Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, participated in a high-level panel discussion titled "United Against Hunger: Realigning Global Action for Food Crises in Times of Disruption."
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event was jointly organized by the Federal Republic of Germany, the World Food Programme, and the Global Network Against Food Crises on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Dr. Al Rabeeah emphasized that conflicts are a leading cause of acute food insecurity in numerous countries. He urged that preventing food insecurity should be a global priority, advocating for systematic prevention and long-term resilience over short-term crisis management.
Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, has been crucial in addressing food insecurity globally by responding to immediate humanitarian needs and investing in sustainable approaches. The Kingdom has contributed over $3.4 billion to 1,289 projects in 88 countries, focusing on building local capacity, enhancing community food production, and improving supply chains.
Dr. Al Rabeeah also highlighted specific projects undertaken by KSrelief, such as the Central Kitchen Project and food basket initiatives in the Gaza Strip, the "Seed" initiative to bolster rural community resilience, and the "Rehabilitation of Damaged Bakeries" project in Syria, benefiting over 1.4 million people.
