Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is joining countries worldwide in celebrating International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12. The celebration aims to highlight youth issues, reinforce their role as essential members of society, encourage them to take active roles in their communities, enhance intergenerational understanding and cooperation, and inspire initiatives and activities that address youth-related challenges.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development actively marks the day as part of its efforts to increase youth contribution to development and enhance their global competitiveness by providing the necessary and suitable conditions to develop their abilities, strengthen their values in society, nurture their talents, and advance their skills.
The ministry recently launched the youth development strategy, which commenced with 20 quality initiatives with the goal of increasing youth participation socially in the labor market. It also implemented a series of programs, activities, and events, including workshops involving various segments of youth and relevant entities to raise awareness of the strategy and its projects.
Youth aged 15 to 39 make up the largest proportion of the Kingdom's population, making them a cornerstone in the economic and societal transformation across all sectors.
