Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, presented during the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25) the results of a pioneering study reflecting its international commitment to bridging the digital gap and extending technological bridges that help connect communities worldwide, especially populations without internet access.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the study builds on the 'Connecting Humanity' initiative launched by the Kingdom in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union, which aims to provide sustainable, affordable, and innovative solutions to bridge the digital divide in areas such as connectivity, infrastructure, capacity, access costs, policies, and regulations.

The commission stressed that the study aligns with the Kingdom's commitment to supporting international initiatives and adopting the best practices that contribute to narrowing the digital divide among nations, while accelerating the use of modern technologies in line with global shifts toward the digital economy and sustainable development.

The accompanying technical study indicated that bridging the global digital divide by 2030 will require investments ranging from $2.6 trillion to $2.8 trillion, underscoring the magnitude of the challenge facing the international community and the urgent need for collective efforts to devise practical and feasible solutions.

These efforts underscore the Kingdom's leading role in driving international initiatives and contributing to shaping the future regulatory policies of the communications and information technology sector, highlighting its prominent position in the global digital landscape and its pivotal role in building technological bridges that connect humanity and advance sustainable development regionally and internationally.
