Saudi Arabia Intensifies Crackdown on Violating Foreign Trucks

General

Riyadh: The Transport General Authority (TGA) is intensifying its inspection campaigns on foreign trucks operating within Saudi Arabia to enforce land transport regulations. Inspection teams have seized 25 foreign trucks illegally transporting goods within cities. Each violation resulted in a SAR10,000 fine and immediate truck impoundment. In Riyadh, 86 inspections yielded 24 violations and impoundments, while in Jeddah, one violation and impoundment were recorded out of eight inspections.

According to Saudi Press Agency, TGA emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards regulatory breaches. First-time offenders face a SAR10,000 fine and a 15-day truck impoundment. Repeat violations incur doubled penalties, escalating to SAR20,000 and 30 days impoundment for the second offense, SAR40,000 and 60 days for the third, SAR80,000 and 60 days for the fourth, and SAR160,000 and 60 days for the fifth offense. Trucks with persistent violations will be confiscated.

These nationwide campaigns are part of TGA's commitment to enhancing transportation sector oversight, ensuring fair competition among carriers, and supporting the national carrier.

This strict enforcement aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to elevate the sector's efficiency and competitiveness locally and internationally.
