Riyadh: Saudi Arabia hosted on Monday an international workshop titled "Facilitating the Movement of International Horses Participating in Races and Competitions".
According to Saudi Press Agency, the workshop was organized by the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases, also known as the Weqaa Center. The event was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Water; the Equestrian Authority; the F©d©ration Equestre Internationale (FEI); the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation; the World Organization for Animal Health; and the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia.
Representatives from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and several Arab nations gathered at the workshop to discuss challenges related to the international movement of racehorses. The event aimed to enhance both international and regional coordination in facilitating horse movement for competitions. Additionally, it sought to develop a roadmap for streamlining the transportation of horses across international borders.
