According to Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) launched several volunteer opportunities across various regions of the Kingdom. These initiatives aim to engage the public in efforts to preserve the country's natural landscapes and enhance environmental awareness.
The Kingdom's mountainous regions are characterized by rich plant diversity, including rare and endemic species that play a key role in supporting ecological balance and enhancing biodiversity. These areas are crucial in maintaining the environmental integrity of the region, offering a habitat for diverse wildlife and contributing to the overall health of the ecosystem.
NCVC continues its efforts to protect and develop these ecosystems through a range of projects and initiatives. Among these are the third and fourth phases of forest site rehabilitation, which focus on restoring damaged forest areas and promoting the growth of native plant species. Additionally, the National Forest Inventory Project aims to assess and monitor the health and extent of the Kingdom's forest resources, providing vital data for future conservation planning.
To tackle the issue of invasive species, NCVC has also launched programs to control the spread of parasitic plants, which pose a threat to native flora and fauna. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability of Saudi Arabia's natural resources and to promote environmental stewardship among its citizens.
