Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the Second Meeting of the Palestine Donor Group, held in Brussels. The Kingdom was represented at the meeting by Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Manal Radwan.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Radwan emphasized that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip remains extremely critical nine months after the ceasefire. She pointed out the ongoing Israeli military control over about 70 percent of the strip and Hamas' control over the remainder, along with the severe restrictions and obstruction of humanitarian aid, early recovery efforts, reconstruction, and restoration of normal civilian life.
Dr. Radwan also addressed the expansion of settlements, settler violence, and unilateral measures in the occupied West Bank. She stressed that these developments reveal a political crisis requiring a political solution, rather than just a humanitarian crisis.
She welcomed the international community's continued political support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and emphasized the need for this support to translate into tangible, sustainable financial commitments. This would ensure the agency's continued provision of humanitarian, educational, and health services to millions of Palestinian refugees.
The Kingdom's representative underscored the importance of Saudi Arabia's strategic partnership with the United States, asserting that close cooperation is essential for transforming the current situation into a comprehensive political settlement. She highlighted the significance of President Trump's vision for resolving the Middle East conflict through a comprehensive peace that ensures security, prosperity, and regional integration.
In her concluding remarks, Dr. Radwan affirmed that Saudi Arabia will continue to support the Palestinian government politically, economically, and diplomatically. She emphasized working with regional and international partners to achieve a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
