New York:On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Manal Radwan, Special Envoy and Advisor for Negotiations and Peace Efforts, represented Saudi Arabia at the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) ministerial meeting. The gathering, which supports the Palestinian people, took place at the UN headquarters under Norwegian chairmanship and was co-sponsored by the United States and the European Union.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Radwan delivered Saudi Arabia's statement, reaffirming the country's steadfast support for the Palestinian Authority and its institutions. She highlighted the urgency of resolving the authority's financial crisis and called for the immediate release of withheld Palestinian clearance revenues. Radwan stressed that financial commitments should not be contingent on the reform process.
Radwan emphasized the importance of integrating humanitarian relief, early recovery operations, and reconstruction funding within a defined political framework. This framework should strengthen legitimate Palestinian institutions, maintain the territorial unity of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and enable the Palestinian Authority to resume governing responsibilities in Gaza.
She also warned that economic support cannot be separated from the realities on the ground, noting that settlement expansion, settler violence, and actions undermining the territorial contiguity and economic viability of the Palestinian state severely weaken Palestinian institutions. Radwan concluded by stating that these measures threaten the prospects of establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
