Riyadh: With every Hajj season, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirms its exceptional capability to enhance healthcare services for pilgrims through innovative solutions. In the 1446 AH Hajj season, the Kingdom set a new global benchmark by introducing pioneering initiatives in the medical supply sector, significantly improving response times and access to healthcare.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiatives are designed to ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals in a safe and healthy environment, supported by advanced smart systems that reflect the latest in global healthcare innovation.
Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel announced the integration of drones and helicopters into the Kingdom's medical supply framework for the Hajj season, in collaboration with the National Unified Procurement Company (Nupco). This world-first initiative aims to efficiently manage smart medical logistics for large gatherings.
Drones were deployed to transport urgent medical items-such as medicines and essential supplies-from Nupco's distribution centers directly to health facilities located in highly congested areas. This innovative system has reduced average delivery times from one hour to approximately five minutes. It targets six key medical centers, with three in Arafat and three in Mina, to enable swift emergency response and safeguard the well-being of pilgrims.
In parallel, a helicopter supply initiative was launched to support healthcare facilities equipped with helipads in areas with high pilgrim density. This solution allows urgent medical shipments to bypass ground traffic, ensuring prompt delivery during peak periods.
By implementing these advanced logistics solutions, the Kingdom is establishing new global standards for delivering medical services in crowded environments, underscoring its dedication to innovation, public health, and enhancing the overall Hajj experience for pilgrims.
