AMMAN: Palestinian Minister of Finance Omar Al-Bitar has received the fourth installment of Saudi Arabia's financial grant to support Palestine in 2024, totaling $10 million. The aid underscores Saudi Arabia's ongoing commitment to assisting the Palestinian people amid economic challenges. According to Saudi Press Agency, the handover ceremony took place at the Saudi Embassy in Jordan during a meeting between Palestinian Minister Omar Al-Bitar and non-resident Saudi Ambassador to Palestine and Consul General in Al-Quds, Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairi. Al-Bitar expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia's historical support, highlighting its advocacy for Palestinian rights and the establishment of an independent state. He also conveyed greetings from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa to the Saudi leadership for its continued assistance. Al-Bitar emphasized the crucial role of Saudi aid in mitigating Palestine's financial crisis, exacerbated by recent Israeli policies. Ambassador Al-Sudairi reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to Palestinian rights, noting Saudi Arabia's consistent financial aid over the years, totaling $5.3 billion in humanitarian, relief, and development assistance. This aid aims to support Palestinian resilience and address economic and humanitarian challenges. The fourth installment brings Saudi Arabia's total aid to Palestine for 2024 to $40 million. The funds have been allocated to essential sectors, including healthcare and education, covering expenses such as operating public hospitals, purchasing medical supplies, and paying salaries for healthcare workers and teachers.
