Saudi Arabia Chairs IMFC Deputies Meeting on Global Economic Challenges

Riyadh:Virtual Meeting: The sixth meeting of the Deputies of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) was held virtually under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of senior officials and experts from member states.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Ryadh Alkhareif, Chair of the IMFC Deputies, highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the global economy due to geopolitical developments. He emphasized the need for strengthened international cooperation and coordinated economic policies to address these challenges and promote sustainable economic growth.

Participants in the meeting reviewed the IMF Managing Director's Global Policy Agenda, discussing the Fund's role in supporting member countries and enhancing global economic stability. The meeting also addressed the draft IMFC Communiqué and key international economic and fiscal policy issues in preparation for the 2026 Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, which are scheduled to occur in Bangkok, Thailand, from October 12 to 18, 2026.
