Doha: Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan Altouq met with Chairperson of the Qatar Museums Board of Trustees Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani during Art Basel Qatar 2026. The meeting focused on enhancing cultural cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Altouq extended his congratulations to the Qatari side for the success of the Art Basel event and expressed his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the government and people of Qatar. The discussions emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges between the two nations, covering various fields and encouraging participation in cultural activities and events hosted by both countries.
The meeting also touched upon joint efforts for the second edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale held in Jeddah in January 2025. This event showcased a selection of artifacts and artworks loaned from Qatari museums and libraries, underscoring the commitment to cultural collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
