Saudi Arabia and International Community Condemn Israeli Knesset’s Draft Laws on West Bank Sovereignty

Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alongside several other countries and international organizations, has voiced strong condemnation regarding the Israeli Knesset's recent approval of two draft laws. These laws are aimed at imposing what is termed 'Israeli sovereignty' over the occupied West Bank and Israeli illegal colonial settlements, actions that have been deemed violations of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the governments of Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, Djibouti, Oman, The Gambia, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Egypt, and Nigeria, along with the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, have all expressed their disapproval of the Knesset's actions. They regard these measures as breaches of Resolution 2334, which censures Israeli activities that attempt to change the demographic composition and status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, since 1967. The advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice has also been cited, affirming the illegality of Israeli occupation and settlement activities.

Furthermore, these nations and organizations have welcomed the International Court of Justice's Advisory Opinion dated 22 October 2025, which reiterates Israel's humanitarian obligations towards the occupied Palestinian territories, including ensuring essential supplies and facilitating relief efforts. The court emphasized Israel's duty to avoid actions that lead to starvation and mass displacement of Palestinians, reaffirming their right to self-determination and independent statehood.

The international community, as represented by these nations and organizations, has warned against Israel's continuation of unilateral policies and practices. They urge the global community to take a stand, compelling Israel to halt its unlawful measures and respect the Palestinian people's rights to establish a sovereign state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This, they assert, is the sole route to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
