Riyadh: Marking a new national achievement, the Saudi Accreditation Center (SAC) has obtained international recognition from the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) for the accreditation of product, process, and service certification bodies in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17065. The center also received accreditation for quality management systems and information security management systems, based on ISO 27001.

According to Saudi Press Agency, SAC further earned international recognition from the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) in the field of proficiency testing, as per the international standard ISO/IEC 17043. This brings the number of SAC's internationally recognized accreditation fields to eight under IAF and five under ILAC.

Chief Executive Officer of SAC Dr. Adel Alkeaid stated that these recognitions represent a significant national milestone in enhancing and supporting the Kingdom's quality infrastructure. He noted that they contribute to building confidence among producers, consumers, and stakeholders, while also supporting the national economy and facilitating international trade through mutual recognition of accreditation and conformity certificates.

The Saudi Accreditation Center is the sole national body authorized to grant accreditation to conformity assessment bodies across various fields. It plays a foundational role in the quality infrastructure system, contributing to the enhancement of service quality, raising the standards and adequacy of services and products, safeguarding consumer health and environmental safety, and supporting the growth and prosperity of the national economy.
