Rocket League: Third Tournament of Gamers Without Borders Concludes in Riyadh

The Rocket League competitions, the third tournament of “Gamers Without Borders” 2023, which is the world’s largest charitable event for games and electronic sports (Esports), concluded here yesterday.

The four-day tournament saw the participation of the world’s elite teams and game professionals competing for the title to obtain the largest share of the competition’s charitable prizes, which amounted to $2 million.

The tournament that was dedicated to the North American region, known as “Gamers Without Borders 2023: North America”, was held on 1-2 May, with the participation of 8 teams: “G2 Esports”, “Complexity”, “Version1”, “Spacestation”, “Boulevard”, “Team Axle”, “Optic” and “KOI”.

The “Version1” team succeeded in winning the North American title after defeating the “KOI” team (4-0). The “G2 Esports” and “Optic” teams managed to reach the semi-finals, with the former losing against the champion (4-0) and the latter to the runner-up (3-1).

The four teams qualified for the finals held within the Gamers Season: “Land of Heroes”, the world’s largest gaming and Esports event, which will be held at the Boulevard Riyadh City on the 6th of July and last over two months with a total prize pool of $45 million.

The members of the “Version 1” team expressed their delight at qualifying for the Gamers Season: Land of Heroes, for being the largest Rocket League tournament in the 2023 calendar, stressing the importance of their victory because it will give them a higher ranking in the upcoming global event.

As for the European region’s competitions, known as “Gamers Without Borders 2023: Europe”, it was held on 3-4 May and witnessed the participation of 8 teams: “Oxygen Esports”, “G1”, “German Amigos”, “Team Vitality”, “Monkeys”, “Team BDS” and “SUHHH”.

The “Team Vitality” snatched the European title against the “Monkeys” team with a (4-1) score. The “Oxygen Esports” and “SUHHH” teams joined the two finalists, as they all booked their place in the finale of the Gamers Season: Land of the Heroes.

Team Vitality said that winning the Rocket League title within Gamers Without Borders was a great feeling as the competition was not easy.

They also expressed their enthusiasm to participate in a special event such as “Gamers Season: Land of Heroes”, in which competitions have a unique system, and the team’s belief in its strong chances to win its title.

“Gamers Without Borders” is organized by the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF).

In its fourth edition this year, it will support international charitable organizations and institutions such as Direct Relief, IMC, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the World Food Program (WFP).

It will see elite players competing for charitable prizes amounting to $10 million to support and meet various urgent humanitarian needs around the world.

The fourth edition will last for 6 weeks in tournaments for the world’s most famous electronic games, including Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, CS: GO, and StarCraft II.
