Riyadh’s Urban Transformation Highlighted at AECD 2025

Riyadh: A panel discussion at the Arab European Cities Dialogue (AECD 2025) in Riyadh explored the evolving urban landscape of the capital city, Riyadh, highlighting key projects driving strategic transformation in tourism, culture, and sustainability. The session featured insights from prominent project developers.

According to Saudi Press Agency, present at the discussion were CEO of the Sports Boulevard Foundation Jayne McGivern, CEO of King Salman Park Foundation George Tanasijevich, and CEO of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority Jerry Inzerillo. Each shared perspectives on how their respective projects are contributing to shaping Riyadh's transformation and advancing the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals.

McGivern emphasized that the Sports Boulevard project marks a significant urban transformation for Riyadh, blending a healthy lifestyle with enhanced quality of life through its robust infrastructure and modern amenities.

Tanasijevich stated that green spaces make up 70% of the King Salman Park project's total, boasting over 1.1 million trees. He highlighted the foundation's collaboration with environmental experts to develop sustainable solutions, ensuring long-term viability of these crucial elements.

The remaining project area will be allocated for commercial uses, supporting the financial returns required for its operation and maintenance through investment partnerships with the private sector. Stringent construction and operational standards will be upheld to ensure a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

Inzerillo said that Diriyah is poised to become a cultural and diplomatic hub for Saudi heritage. He emphasized that the project, spanning 14 million square meters with a $64 billion investment, is progressing as scheduled and within budgetary confines.
