Riyadh to Host 40th UN High-Level Group Meeting on Statistics

Riyadh: The Kingdom, represented by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), is scheduled to host the 40th meeting of the United Nations High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB) on November 10-11 at the GASTAT headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting will bring together heads of national statistical offices and representatives of international and regional statistical organizations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event reflects the Kingdom's growing prominence in supporting the global statistical system and promoting collective efforts to strengthen statistical capacities, enabling the monitoring of progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals and improving coordination among member states.

Hosting this meeting underscores Saudi Arabia's leading international position in the field of statistics and its commitment to advancing global efforts to achieve sustainable development objectives, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to foster knowledge exchange and enhance national and international statistical infrastructure.

Participants will discuss ways to enhance integration among international statistical systems and improve national capacities for producing accurate and reliable data. The agenda also includes expanding the use of innovative data and advanced statistical methodologies to support development and economic planning, exploring strategies to enhance national data ownership, and highlighting the private sector's role in supporting member states' statistical ecosystems.

The meeting will also review the 2026 work plan and preparations for presenting the group's report to the UN Statistical Commission in the first quarter of the year.
