Riyadh: Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Riyadh Region Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz attended the opening ceremony of the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games. The event is scheduled to take place from November 7 to 21, with participation from 57 Islamic countries.
According to Saudi Press Agency, upon his arrival, Prince Faisal was welcomed by Minister of Sport, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal. In his address, Prince Faisal officially declared the commencement of the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games, expressing his wishes for success to all participants.
Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal remarked that the royal patronage of the games underscores the unwavering support provided for sports by the nation's leadership. He highlighted the significance of hosting an exemplary edition of this Islamic event, which unites athletes from over 57 Islamic countries in Riyadh, reflecting the Crown Prince's commitment to sports across the Islamic world.
Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its ongoing support and efforts in strengthening joint Islamic action. He praised the leadership of King Salman and Prince Mohammed bin Salman, acknowledging their roles in fostering unity among Islamic nations.
