RGA: Road Network Enhances Logistics Between Kingdom and GCC Countries

Riyadh: The Roads General Authority (RGA) has underscored the significant role of Saudi Arabia’s road network in facilitating logistics and the movement of people and goods between the Kingdom and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This development aligns with the highest standards of quality and safety and supports the objectives of the Roads Sector Program under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the RGA highlighted the importance of the Dhahran-Uqair-Salwa road, a 66-kilometer route that enhances land connectivity with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. This road is essential in supporting transportation between industrial cities and border crossings, reducing travel time by about one hour, and separating truck traffic from urban areas to improve traffic flow and road safety.

In addition, the King Fahd Causeway is recognized as a strategic crossing connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Stretching 25 kilometers, it has been a critical land transport link since its inception in 1986, facilitating the movement of trucks and vehicles and reducing waiting times at border crossings.

The RGA also emphasized the logistical significance of the 564-kilometer Saudi-Oman highway, which aids transport operations and facilitates truck movement through the Empty Quarter. Furthermore, land routes connecting the Kingdom to Kuwait, particularly the Khafji-Nairyah-Riyadh road and the Al-Ruqai-Hafar Al-Batin-Al-Majmaah road, are crucial for supporting land transport and easing the movement of trucks and vehicles along these corridors.

The RGA reiterated its commitment to developing and expanding the road network in line with the Roads Sector Program, emphasizing quality, safety, and traffic efficiency. These efforts aim to elevate the Kingdom to the sixth position globally in the Roads Quality Index and to reduce the road fatality rate to fewer than five cases per 100,000 people by 2030.
