Jeddah: The Red Sea International Film Festival has announced the launch of 38 new film and television projects as part of this year's Titles for Souk Project Market List. This initiative celebrates a wide range of storytelling styles and talents from around the globe, embodying the festival's theme, "A New Home for Cinema," during its upcoming run from December 5-14 in Historic Jeddah. According to Saudi Press Agency, the list showcases 12 projects developed through the Red Sea Lodge annual program, a collaborative effort with the Torino Film Lab and sponsored by Film AlUla. This year, the market has expanded its support to include serialized storytelling, with seven series currently in development at the Series Lab, in partnership with Film Independent. The Red Sea Souk, the film market of the Red Sea Film Foundation, aims to boost global exchange and partnerships between the international and Saudi film industries. The four-day market will feature a variety of curated events designed to strengthen co-pro duction, international distribution, and job creation. Attendees will gain an unprecedented insight into the dynamic, emerging Saudi film landscape while also experiencing the best of the Arab market through pitching sessions, individual meetings, film screenings, industry discussions, and networking events. In a significant expansion of its major program, the Red Sea Souk has opened participation this year to filmmakers from across Asia, receiving 28% of its applications from the continent. This marks a milestone for the Red Sea International Film Festival, as previous participation was limited to project directors from Africa or the Arab world. The Red Sea International Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the finest in Arab and global cinema in Jeddah, known as the 'Bride of the Red Sea.' The festival's cinematic program includes a variety of categories and sections, featuring films from around the world, ranging from restored cinematic treasures to the latest works by emerging talents. The event wi ll host an elite lineup of artistic talent, filmmakers, and industry professionals from the Arab world and beyond. It will also feature film competitions for both feature and short films, alongside art events and numerous panels and workshops aimed at supporting, developing, and encouraging rising talents.
