Red Sea International Film Festival Unveils 2025 Films in Competition

Jeddah: The Red Sea International Film Festival yesterday announced, during its press conference, the key highlights of its fifth edition, set to take place over 10 days from December 4 to 13. The festival also revealed the official selection of feature films competing for the prestigious Yusr Awards.

According to Saudi Press Agency, CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation Faisal Baltyuor stated that the upcoming edition will showcase 108 films, most of which will be world premieres. He noted that 35% of the films are Saudi productions, while the rest represent more than 60 countries from around the world.

He added that this year's festival will feature a broader lineup of events, including an expanded market and industry programs, underscoring the festival's growing influence on the global cinematic stage.

This year's selection includes seven films supported by the Red Sea Film Foundation's ecosystem, including Saudi Arabia's 2025 Academy Award submission 'Hijra; A Sad and Beautiful World;' 'Sink;' 'Roqia;' and the Kenyan documentary 'Truck Mama.'

Additional highlights include the world premiere of 'Barni;' the MENA premieres of 'Two Seasons, Two Strangers,' the Locarno Golden Leopard-winning Japanese drama; and 'Lost Land,' the first-ever Rohingya-language drama.
