Madinah: The livestock sector is considered one of the fundamental pillars supporting the local markets and achieving food security in the Kingdom, which enhances the consumption of red meat, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, due to its quality and high nutritional value. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, within a campaign launched to highlight support for local products and encourage their consumption during the holy month, noted that red meat production in the Kingdom reached about 293,000 tons, contributing to the prominence of Ramadan tables with its wide variety and distinguished quality.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry added that supporting and developing the livestock sector contributes to achieving a balance between meeting the growing demand for red meat and preserving natural resources by applying best practices in breeding and production, improving the efficiency of supply chains, and boosting veterinary and preventive services. It also works to develop the local production system and raise its efficiency to ensure the availability of safe, high-quality food products, in addition to supporting livestock breeders across the Kingdom.
The ministry said the campaign aims to enhance awareness of the importance of consuming local products and supporting farmers and producers, noting that it contributes to improving the quality of food products and increasing the self-sufficiency rate, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable development and enhance the national economy.
