Riyadh: The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), in collaboration with Broadway Entertainment Group, has announced the hosting of the world-renowned musical 'WICKED' for the first time in the Middle East. The performances are scheduled to take place at the King Fahad Cultural Center in Riyadh from December 3 to 20, 2025.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this marks the inaugural staging of the acclaimed production in the Middle East, beginning its regional tour from Riyadh. The event signifies a crucial step in RCRC's efforts to attract international cultural and artistic experiences, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Vice President of the Lifestyle Sector at RCRC, Engineer Khalid bin Abdullah Alhazani, expressed the commission's enthusiasm for hosting the global musical production for the first time in the region. He emphasized RCRC's commitment to providing cultural and entertainment options for all segments of society, in line with the objectives of the Quality of Life Program under Saudi Vision 2030.
Stephen Schwartz, the composer and lyricist of 'WICKED,' expressed his delight at the production's debut in Riyadh. He highlighted that the production brings renewed energy and creativity while maintaining the essence of the story, which celebrates friendship, love, and the courage to defend values and principles.
'WICKED' is recognized as one of the world's most successful musical productions, having attracted more than 70 million viewers in over 130 cities across 25 countries. The Riyadh performances will feature more than 100 artists, technicians, and orchestra members, alongside large-scale stage designs that include over 350 costumes. The production will also showcase its most iconic musical numbers, such as 'Defying Gravity,' 'Popular,' and 'For Good.'
