Beirut: Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, on Friday received a high-level delegation from the World Bank in his office to discuss ongoing and future cooperation on infrastructure projects in Lebanon.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the delegation included the Regional Director for Infrastructure Operations for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Regional Infrastructure Director, as well as the World Bank’s operations manager, alongside members of the minister’s team.
Discussions focused on World Bank-funded projects currently underway in Lebanon and ways to strengthen coordination between the ministry and the international institution, particularly in the infrastructure and vital facilities sectors.
Talks also centered on the Lebanon Emergency Assistance Project (LEAP), following the legal ratification of the USD 250 million reconstruction loan. The two sides agreed on mechanisms to activate the loan and develop a practical implementation plan, in coordination with the ministry and municipalities, to support recovery, rebuild infrastructure damaged during the 2024 Israeli aggression, and restore essential public services.
Rasamny stressed the importance of cooperation with the World Bank on projects that directly impact citizens’ daily lives, affirming the ministry’s commitment to working with international partners to achieve balanced and sustainable development across all regions.
