Qatar Condemns Houthi Militia Spokesperson’s Statements Against Saudi Arabia

Doha: The State of Qatar expressed its strongest condemnation of statements by the military spokesperson of the Houthi militia in which he accused the Kingdom of besieging the Yemeni people and imposing a maritime blockade.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement today, called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

Qatar affirmed that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a fundamental principle of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Qatar renewed its full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to preserve its sovereignty and security, underscoring that the Kingdom's security is an integral part of Qatar's security and the security of Gulf Cooperation Council states.
