Qassim: The fifth Truffle Festival, held at Sherii village in Qassim Region, boosted the economic value of truffles by transforming them from a limited raw product into a variety of traditional and innovative dishes. More than 30 families working in the cottage industry participated, showcasing their culinary expertise and helping elevate truffle-based products from local markets to prominent tourist attractions, generating strong financial returns.
According to Saudi Press Agency, festival organizers began preparations early, training families, particularly women, to professionally integrate truffles into traditional cuisine, enhancing both quality and market appeal.
The festival preserved the truffle's identity while promoting food processing industries through modern packaging, labeling, and preservation techniques in partnership with specialized companies. These efforts created job opportunities, strengthened the local economy, and reinforced truffles as a national product with cultural and tourism significance.
