Qassim University and Food Authority to Host Hackathon on Food Loss and Waste

Qassim:Qassim University, along with the General Food Security Authority, is preparing to host a hackathon focused on reducing food loss and waste. The event, titled "Food Loss and Waste Hackathon," is themed "Today We Innovate... For a Tomorrow without Loss or Waste" and aligns with the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the hackathon will unite innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, specialists, and sustainability enthusiasts to devise practical solutions to the challenges of food loss and waste within the Kingdom. The initiative aims to address these issues by attracting specialized talent to create solutions that target the root causes across various stages of the food value chain.

The hackathon will utilize modern technologies, including data and artificial intelligence, to develop digital and operational solutions. These solutions are expected to enhance supply chains, forecast food needs, and measure food loss and waste indicators.

Registration for the hackathon is open from September 29 to October 10, with the event scheduled for October 22 and 23.
