Prophet’s Mosque Imam Visits Islamic Center in Maldives

Male: The Prophet's Mosque imam and khatib Sheikh Dr. Salah bin Muhammad Al-Budair on Tuesday visited the Islamic Center in the Maldivian capital, Mal©. He was accompanied by Republic of Maldives Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. The visit was part of the program of visits by the imams of the Two Holy Mosques, implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the visit included the Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaanu Mosque, where a ceremony was held. During the event, the grand imam of Sheikh Muhammad Latheef Mosque delivered a speech expressing gratitude to the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its care and attention to Muslims around the world. He praised the role of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in organizing this visit and commended the visit of the esteemed imam and preacher of the Prophet's Mosque to the republic.

In a visual presentation that followed, the Maldivian Islamic affairs minister highlighted the extensive support provided by the Kingdom to the Maldives, describing it as the country's greatest supporter across various sectors, particularly in serving Islam and Muslims. He pointed out that the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Mosque in the capital, Mal©, stands as a strong symbol of the Islamic bonds between the two countries and represents the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to supporting Muslim communities. He also noted that the Islamic Center was established four decades ago with the support of the late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

For his part, Sheikh Al-Budair delivered a speech in which he praised the Kingdom's efforts and support for the Republic of Maldives through various projects. He also emphasized the role of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in strengthening cooperation between the two ministries in a way that benefits Muslims in the Maldives.
