Jeddah: Professor Dr. Noura bint Zaid Al-Rashoud, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Independent Permanent Commission for Human Rights, has called for not overlooking the horrific reality facing hundreds of thousands of innocent Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories. She highlighted that their access to clean water has become an unattainable right, despite water being a basic condition for life and dignity. The Palestinian people are also deprived of a wide range of basic human rights, leading to a constant struggle for survival.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, in her speech at the opening of the 25th Ordinary Session of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Professor Noura called on all OIC member states to take urgent and effective steps to implement the resolutions from previous relevant summits and Councils of Foreign Ministers. She urged them to work diligently to end the double standards in the application of international human rights law and international humanitarian law.
The Authority expressed its gratitude to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for hosting the Secretariat's headquarters and providing the necessary moral and logistical support to enable the body to carry out its duties independently and effectively.
The Commission's Executive Director congratulated Dr. Haji Ali Ashi Gul on his second term as Chairman of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission. She emphasized that his return to this responsibility symbolizes strength, stability, and continuity. The Commission also paid its respects to Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi, recognizing his significant impact on advancing the Commission during his tenure as Chairman.
